The new restrictions stipulate that online comedy and music performances planned for the coming weeks in Melbourne cannot go ahead. As a result, the Women’s Health Week Comedy Gala, which was due to be streamed for online broadcast live from Melbourne on Saturday, 5 September, will be postponed for three weeks. The gala is now due to be broadcast on Saturday, 26 September.
“Although we are disappointed to have to postpone our signature Women’s Health Week event, it is more important that we keep everyone safe, including the performers, crew and our staff, and follow the new government restrictions in order to minimise the spread of COVID-19,” says Brenda Jones, campaign manager for Women’s Health Week.
“All tickets that have been purchased will still be valid for 26 September, however if the new date is not suitable, we are happy to provide a refund.”
“This year, more than ever, we all need a good laugh and we are committed to still deliver the laughs to women right around Australia – even if it’s a little later than we planned,” says Ms Jones.
“All of our incredibly talented performers are still going to be in the show including Claire Hooper, Celia Pacquola, Cal Wilson, Zoe Coombs Marr and Jude Perl, as well as Steph Tisdell live from Brisbane and Aditi Mittal live from Mumbai.”
Tickets start from just $20 and are on sale now at https://go.jeanhailes.org.au/comedy-gala-2020. Proceeds support not only the work the work of Australia’s leading women’s health service, Jean Hailes for Women’s Health, but also the performers and crew.
