I’m talking about truly looking after and nourishing your mind, body and spirit, and taking the time to listen to your inner self, honour your needs, and respect your body. You deserve that care.

To put it mildly, juggling life as a novelist, a mother and an ambulatory wheelchair user with CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) has its challenges. I have no choice but to prioritise my health with pain management, pacing, meditation, medication and more, in order to be the best that I can be, for me and for my family. Mentally, and in terms of resilience, I am stronger than ever, but I don’t have the luxury of ignoring my body’s needs if I expect to function. Self-care is more essential than ever."
