"As a gynaecological cancer survivor, I am passionate about sharing my personal story with women of all ages to help raise awareness and break down the stigma and taboo around these cancers.
As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, I want to share my vulva cancer story to create a better experience for other women. Women’s Health Week is an opportunity to bring these lesser-known cancers out in the open for more women to feel heard, accepted and supported in our community. I want to close the gate on preventable diseases, delayed treatments and/or unnecessary treatments.
The week is also an important reminder to women to regularly undergo health checks and to be aware of changes in their bodies. Importantly, I want women to feel confident to speak with their health professionals about issues often seen as taboo or embarrassing."
